Challenge: Scimitar helped a pre-commercial biotech scale their organization and advance their pipeline. Due to their success, a top-10 pharmaceutical company purchased the biotech to help fill gaps in their pipeline. Scimitar was retained to guide the integration. 

Approach: Our team members worked collaboratively with the client to establish a core integration PMO responsible for guiding activities. Documentation & data played a key role in this integration, and Scimitar ensured all documentation and data from the acquirer was seamlessly integrated, then retired.

Impact: The integration was accomplished within the originally agreed timelines, and portfolio / project teams were integrated into the large pharma’s processes and governances as planned.

Change Management & Communications for R&D Integration​ ​

 

Successful acquisition through leading change management, fostering staff engagement, and addressing training needs. 

Insights

Challenge: A top 5 medical device company performed a tuck-in acquisition of a complementary product line. Key to realizing the full value of the acquisition was retaining R&D staff. 

Approach: Scimitar worked with the client to ensure thorough change management with the onboarding staff through global town halls, meet-and-greets, newsletters, and an integration roadmap. Training needs were identified to fill gaps in staff capabilities and support the success of the integration.

Impact: Our change management approach ensured staff knew what to expect and when, resulting in greater clarity and commitment for the combined organization. The staff reported high scores for the acquired company feeling “embedded” by 6-months post-Day 1. 

Integration of Large Pharma Clinical Development & Drug Supply​

 

Guidance of a large pharma merger through establishing integration governance, redesigning clinical supply operations, and validating IT systems.

Insights

Challenge: Top 5 and top 20 pharmaceutical companies entered a merger and sought support pre-day 1 to help integrate across Clinical Drug Supply, Clinical Operations, and Clinical Compliance, Quality, and Pharmacovigilance. 

Approach: Our team worked with the client to create an integration governance structure and PMO while designing and deploying a future-state clinical supply chain with refined processes and operating model. As part of ensuring supply chain success, Scimitar oversaw training and communication efforts & validated end-to-end IT systems. 

Impact: The client realized all target value capture opportunities. To date, the client has maintained business continuity within both legacy organization with no negative impacts to clinical trials or health authority compliance.
