Quality Analytics Drive Quality Event Resolution

 

Development of a reporting infrastructure and installed business processes to help a pharmaceutical company resolve a backlog of >150 past due quality events.

Insights

Challenge: A global pharmaceutical company was facing an ever-growing backlog of past due quality events they could not keep up with. They had attempted to build a manually updated reporting infrastructure to drive quality event resolution, but it was requiring 15 hours a week of FTE time to maintain.

Approach: Scimitar conducted an analysis with Quality stakeholders to understand the key data points required to track and facilitate past due event resolution. A reporting dashboard was built with an automated connection to reduce maintenance time from 15 hours a week to ~ 0 hours. This reporting was harmonized with a new business process to facilitate collaboration with past due event owners to remove blockers and close events.

Impact: The past due quality event backlog was reduced from > 150 events to <20 events in 3 months.

Centralized Clinical Asset Planning

 

Development of a reporting infrastructure to centralize all functional level planning data for 50+ clinical assets being developed in the pipeline.

Insights

Challenge: A pharmaceutical company was managing its functional planning data for clinical asset development in silos and multiple systems resulting in conflicting information and lack of transparency into upcoming milestones.

Approach: Scimitar partnered with cross-functional stakeholders to design harmonized asset planning templates for each functional team. This unform planning structure was ingested into a database for centralized storage. Reporting and analytics were built off the centralized data to drive insights and data consistency across the portfolio for executive and functional level stakeholders on the status of the development pipeline.

Impact: Stakeholders now had a trusted source of truth for pipeline planning data that could be used to confidently drive budgeting and long-range planning decisions.

Efficient R&D Resource Allocation

 

Development of a reporting infrastructure to drive transparency and facilitate effective resource allocation of 500+ R&D resources to the asset pipeline.

Insights

Challenge: A pharmaceutical company had limited to no transparency into how its 500+ R&D resources were being allocated within the R&D pipeline and if allocations aligned to strategic priorities.

Approach: Scimitar collaborated with R&D leadership to identify the types of work R&D performs and the key business questions leadership needs to answer. A resource management capability was developed for functional managers to plan current and upcoming assignments. This planning data was ingested into a centralized database to facilitate the building of leadership level reporting on resource allocations to pipeline projects.

Impact: R&D leadership could now quickly and effective review how resources are and will be allocated across the portfolio and quickly pivot as strategic priorities shift.
